Improvised and experimental music: it’s happening again
Soundhunt, Cambridge’s monthly concert series of improvised music, returns in a new venue – Cambridge’s Junction 3 – on 1st March 2026.
We (re)start as we originally began back in March 2022 with percussionist Eddie Prévost, a towering figure in UK improvised music. Eddie will play in a trio with Swiss trumpeter Silvan Schmid and UK bassist Tom Wheatley in what is now a well-seasoned trio.
Also on the bill will be your hosts, Dominic Lash (double bass) and NO Moore (electric guitar), playing in a trio with the great London based saxophonist Sue Lynch. Sue has run The Horse Improvisation Club (now located in Blackfriars) for many years, providing a backbone to the UK national and international improv scene. She has played with everyone worth playing with, and is also a member of The Scorpios.
The trio present a buoyant and elusive jazz, driven by referential investigation and an unorthodox approach to the warp and phase of rhythm. Following a concentrated recording process at All Saints Church of High Laver, ‘The Wandering One’ was released on Matchless Recordings in May 2024. They have since been playing live throughout Europe, at venues including Café OTO, Glad Café, Jazz North East, University of Pavia, Misterioso Jazz Club, Year-To-Date March Mix, and The Vortex.
