Join the Cambridge University Symphony Chorus and the East Anglia Chamber Orchestra for an evening of radiant lyricism and orchestral warmth, pairing two masterpieces that reveal the youthful genius of their composers.

Programme:
- Puccini - Messa Di Gloria
- Brahms - Serenade No.1

Performers:
- David Young - conductor

Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, written when he was just 22, is a thrilling early testament to the operatic flair that would later define his career. Brimming with soaring melodies, dramatic contrasts, and expressive choral writing, the work combines sacred tradition with unmistakably theatrical colour.

Brahms’ Serenade No.1, written when he was 25, offers a contrasting world of pastoral beauty and classical grace; at once grand and intimate.

EAChO has the reputation of being the finest chamber orchestra in the region. They enjoy inviting professional guest conductors and award winning soloists to play programmes that are a mix of the well known and lesser known. Their regular leader is Jamie Foreman.

CUSO is Cambridge's premier student-run symphony orchestra. Founded in 1991 to give the best student conductors a high-quality ensemble of student musicians (entry is by audition only), the orchestra has gone from strength to strength and earned itself a strong reputation in the competitive Cambridge environment.
