Gabrieli Roar - Handel's Saul

Ely Cathedral, 22 Jul 2026

GABRIELI ROAR give another of their large-scale festival concerts, this time performing Handel's epic biblical oratorio, Saul. For this performance, the professional forces of Gabrieli are as ever augmented by 250 young singers from around the country, conducted by Paul McCreesh.

One of the highlights of the Gabrieli calendar, this is the final concert of the annual Gabrieli Roar Residential course, during which 250 young singers immerse themselves in six days of intensive rehearsal and learning, in preparation for this performance. Join them and revel in Handel's glorious chorus writing, ranging from celebration to fury and mourning. The performance at Ely Cathedral will feature soloists Nardus Williams, Charlotte Bowden and Christopher Lowrey, with Matthew Brook in the title role.

Tickets: £30, £20, under 18s: free.

Please note that tickets are only refundable if an event is cancelled or its date changed.

A licenced bar will be provided at this event. No alcohol or glass may be brought into the Cathedral. Bars run by Ely Cathedral accept card payments only.
