Fantasy & Idyll

West Road Concert Hall, 18 Apr 2026

Bax, Delius and Vaughan Williams, in support of the Karen Morris Memorial Trust

The Sampson Orchestra of Cambridge, conducted by Darrell Davison, performs wonderful works by four famous composers of the 20th-century English symphonic tradition. Bax's "Tintagel" (1919) and Delius's "Daybreak" (1887) are followed by Vaughan Williams's renowned "The Lark Ascending" (1914), featuring young rising star solo violinist Mikhail Andreev.

The second half of the concert comprises Elgar's grand Symphony No.1 (1908). The local charity which will benefit from this concert is the Karen Morris Memorial Trust.
