“Come Ye Sons of Art” and “Great Mass in C Minor”
CHOIR2000 are a large amateur choir based in Histon, originally founded for one concert to celebrate the Millennium- but still going strong 24 years later! We are led by our amazing Musical Director Chloë Allison and will be joined by the wonderful Choir2000 orchestra, accompanist Clare Howard and fabulous soloists.
Purcell’s ode to celebrate the birthday of Queen Mary II and Mozart’s Roman Catholic mass were written a century apart, yet they both celebrate the finest skills of choral singing.
Choir2000 began (as the name suggests!) in the Year 2000 as a one off coming together of singers to celebrate the new millenium. Everyone enjoyed it so much that the choir decided to continue and has gone from strength to strength ever since.
25 years on, Choir2000 now numbers around 100 regular singers, performing serious choral works as well as light hearted pieces under its brilliant and dynamic Musical Director Chloe Allison. The choir is known as one of the best and friendliest non-auditioning choirs in the Cambridge area.
One of Cambridge’s premier music venues and is part of Cambridge University
