A celestial take on acid folk, electronica, and tropicalia
Lisbon-based psyche-masters BEAUTIFY JUNKYARDS visit Cambridge for the first time, bringing their celestial take on acid folk, electronica, and tropicalia. Since 2013 the group have been developing a distinctly languid and hazy caldeirada of giallo soundtracks, wyrd folk, chamber pop, and spectral synth.
Their latest LP, NOVA, is their third for hauntological gatekeepers Ghost Box Recordings. It’s an eerily timeless collections of tunes that shimmer and float through the ether, augmented by cameo contributions from Jesse Chandler (of Midlake and Mercury Rev), Dorothy Moskowitz (of United States of America), and (most surprisingly) Paul Weller.
