Jazz Sundays: The Julia Quinn Band

Hot Box Chelmsford, 9 Feb 2025

An afternoon/evening of jazz, soul and funk, every second Sunday of the month

Every second Sunday of the month (with the odd exception) Zak Barrett, (saxophonist for The Fellowship, Sunchaser and many more), returns to give you an afternoon/evening of Jazz, Soul and Funk.

This will be backed up by Jazz Turntable sets from DJ Funkendick, expect to hear the classics and the rare grooves from the origins of Jazz to modern Nu Jazz. Previous events have involed the likes of Guthrie Govan, Roberto Manzin, Dave Ital, Dan Parker, Dan Banks, Seth Govan and many more. This is the perfect Sunday afternoon!

“There hasn’t been a time when I didn’t sing…”

Starting at school in concerts and end of term shows, Julia graduated to The Melvin Beddow Big Band at aged 17, then various pop bands, duos and trios including Blue Vision, Serious Heroes, Impulse, and was a founding member of five piece outfit Shot’t’Funk which is still going strong to this day (and which I occasionally still dep for).

Jazz – Julia has worked with Tony Sandeman (Guitar), the late great Pete Jacobsen (Keyboards) and Gary Plumley (Sax) and Al Forman (bass) of C Level, Tim Huskisson, Mike King and Dan Banks (keyboards), Graham Hunter (Trumpet) Ian Thompson (Sax) Marc Cecil and Neil Robinson (drums) Graham Cuttill (Percussion) Andy Staples and Trevor Newnham (Bass).
